Zoutelande and the surrounding area

Zoutelande is a wonderful place to stay on the Zeeland coast. This charming village on Walcheren has a lot to offer.

Zoutelande Beach has wide dunes and is about 5 kilometers long. The breakwaters and beach huts are characteristic features of this well-maintained sandy beach.

Both in the summer and in the winter, there are several beach pavilions with terraces open where you can enjoy a bite to eat and a drink. Meanwhile, you can take in a beautiful view of the sea.

From May 1 through September 15, between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., only dogs on a leash are allowed. Outside of this period, both leashed and off-leash dogs are welcome on the beach.

Zoutelande is a quiet and charming village on the Walcheren Peninsula. Only a narrow row of dunes and a dike separate the seaside resort from the Westerschelde. In the village, you’ll find shops, outdoor cafes, bars, and restaurants.

You can also do your daily grocery shopping in Zoutelande.

In the center of the village stands the 13th/14th-century St. Catherine’s Church. The church, with its square tower, is a striking building around which the village has developed over the years.

Every Tuesday during the summer, there is a weekly farmers’ market for tourists.

The area around Zoutelande is a paradise for hiking and biking enthusiasts. There are many biking and hiking trails that take you right through the beautiful countryside or to charming little towns. Of course, you can also plan your own route and explore the area. Don’t forget to take a walk on the beach at sunset.

In addition to nature, Walcheren has so much more to offer. For example, there are several museums, golf courses, and a beautiful castle. There are also many fun activities for children, such as playgrounds, adventure parks, swimming pools, and a trampoline park.

On the former work island of Neeltje Jans, you can relive the history of the 1953 flood disaster and the Delta Works. Deltapark Neeltje Jans features exhibits, adventure attractions, boat tours, animals, and a spectacular water park.

Are you a fan of beautiful, charming places? Then Goes, Middelburg, Domburg, and Veere are definitely worth a visit. Of course, you can also soak up the maritime atmosphere in Vlissingen and visit the Kazematten, built in 1811.

Prefer to get out into nature? In De Manteling van Walcheren, at the Westhove Castle nature reserve, and at the nearby Oranjezon nature reserve, you’re in for a real treat.
